Rita Allen Foundation Scholars will convene for two days this week in the Bloomberg Lecture Hall at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ, to present their work, collaborate and network with each other.
On Wednesday, June 22, participants will hear a welcome and then Keynote remarks from Professor Arnold Levine of the Systems Biology department of the Institute’s School of Natural Sciences. Dr. Levine is a widely acclaimed leader in cancer research. In 1979, he and others discovered the p53 tumor suppressor protein, a molecule that inhibits tumor development.
Scholars will also be treated to an address by Dr. Christopher A. Walsh, Bullard Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, Chief of the Division of Genetics at Boston Children's hospital, director of the Harvard-MIT M.D.-Ph.D. program, and an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
In addition, several presentations by our Scholars have been scheduled for both days.
To encourage networking and bonding among our Scholars, the Rita Allen Foundation has organized a few receptions, a visit to the Princeton Art Museum and a full walking tour of historic Princeton Borough.
