The Metropolitan Opera
By sponsoring a Saturday afternoon broadcast of the Metropolitan Opera, the Rita Allen Foundation is helping to expose aspiring young artists to one of the most exciting cultural experiences in the world. Outside of New York City, the Met has been known to audiences in large measure through its many years of live radio broadcasts. The Metropolitan Opera's Saturday matinee broadcasts are the longest-running continuous classical program in radio history. Many young people have had their own interests and careers in the arts “ignited” while listening to live performances from the Met.
